Sharpless 71 + 72

Sharpless 71 (LBN 103, PN G035.9-01.1 and others) is smaller red nebula. It is located approximately 5,500 light-years away in Aquila.

Sharpless 72 is the much larger nebula at the center of the image. Distance estimates are from around 5,000 to 8,200 light-years.

NGC 6749 (Berkeley 42 and others) is the globular cluster located below and to the left of Sh2-72.

Ha – 26x1800s – 780 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

900 minutes total exposure – 15 hours

Imaged from Dardenne Prairie, Missouri (a red zone) over seven nights in June and July, 2019 with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90DT at f/6.7 603mm.
