Username Kubernite is John Maynard. My interest in science began with the early images I saw of the moon landings, and science programs on PBS. I was facinated by the movie version of "The Time Machine" by H.G.Wells, and received further stimulation from J. Bronowsky's "Ascent of Man". Later the Viking mission news inspired considerable interest and the creation of a scrap book on planetary exploration which I maintained through college. I wanted to understand how we knew and origins of thought as well as history, and took my education in the direction of philosophy. I took up Astronomy again in 2005 when I realized it had been about twenty years since I looked through a telescope, or thought about Astronomy at all.
