NGC 2968

NGC 2968 (UGC 5190, PGC 27800 and others) is the large spiral with the prominent bar at the center of the image. Located approximately 83 million light-years away in Leo, this one appears to have a faint plume interacting the NGC 2970 above it.

NGC 2970 (PGC 27827 and others) is the galaxy above NGC 2968.

NGC 2964 (UGC 5183, PGC 27777 and others) is the spiral below NGC 2968.

Luminance – 43x600s – 430 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 12x300s – 60 minutes each – binned 2x2

550 minutes total exposure – 9 hours 10 minutes

Imaged January 28th, 29th and 30th and February 2nd and 3rd, 2022 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
