Sharpless 241 + van den Bergh 65

Sharpless 241 is the nebula at the center of the image. It has a bight knot of nebulosity along with a fan that heads towards the north east. Sh2-241 is located approximately 17,200 light-years away in Auriga.

van den Berg 65 (BD+30 1096) is the bright star at the center of the blue nebulosity at the center bottom. It is located approximately 3,500 light-years away. The nebulosity is actually cataloged as Ced 61, DG 86 and LBN 823 among others.

Luminance – 15x600s – 150 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

270 minutes total exposure – 4.5 hours

Imaged from Dardenne Prairie, Missouri (a red zone) on November 20th, 2014 and January 13th, 2016 with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90DT at f/6.7 603mm.
