Here's an afocal shot that I took of the 6-day-16-hour-old Moon on 2011/5/9 using a Canon PowerShot SD980 IS camera, an Orion SteadyPix Deluxe Camera Mount, a 2" 40mm University Optics MK-70 eyepiece, and the Astronomical Society of Harrisburg's 17" f/15 classical Cassegrain. Unfortunately, the seeing and transparency were mediocre at the time. Lunar south is to the top. The large craters Hipparchus (150 kilometers) and Albategnius (136 kilometers) can be seen at the bottom right of the image.
