It has been a long Maryland Winter with very few clear weekend days so far in 2014. I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to create this photo. Although it took less than one minute to capture the images used to create this photo, it took several hours to process it. The first steps were to bring out the details by balancing the brightness and contrast of the solar surface. The next trick was to bring out the features around the outer edge of the Sun and to eliminate the "noise" in the dark areas. Lastly, add the artistic touches to really make the image "pop".
