Photo of the total lunar eclipse June 15, 2011. 18:56 UT, Moscow, Russia.

The weather wasn't very friendly to astronomers in Moscow on the night of the eclipse. But fortunately there was a large break in clouds just above the southern horizon where the Moon was rising. It was the most spectacular eclipse I've ever seen! The Moon looked magical. It rose lazily above emerald tree tops and was covered with the crimson shadow of the Earth.
