We were very fortunate to have relatively very good conditions for last night's partial lunar eclipse and which was a great way to end the year, the decade as well as IYA 2009.
Although the depth was only 8%, the moon's partial entry into the umbral shadow was quite obvious both naked eye as well as through the telescope at high power. The time series above is based on exposures spaced 30 minutes apart and which beautifully documents the moon's entry into the penumbra and umbra as well as its consequent exit.
