The total solar eclipse of March/2006 included in its path of totality the small Greek island of Kastelorizo which lies in the southeastern Mediterranean and a few kilometers off the Turkish coast. The island's population of 3000 inhabitants were overwhelmed by many thousands of visiting eclipsophiles looking to catch the nearly three minutes of totality. The image above illustrates the inner corona which came into stunning view once the sun was totally eclipsed by the moon.
