IC 1287, a blue reflection nebula, is found in the constellation Scutum. The nebula is illuminated by the magnitude 5.7 star SAO 161569 (HD 170740). To the lower right of the nebula is the open cluster NGC 6649. Both are found within the rich star fields of the Milky Way. The image was a total of 3hrs 30 min exposure taken with a Takahashi E 180 f/2.8 astrograph and an SBIG STF8300 camera @ -20 degrees on a Paramount (21 x 10 min lights; 20 darks; 64 bias; 61 flats)
