M100 (NGC 4321) is a grand design spiral located approximately 55 million light-years away in Coma Berenices. It is part of the Virgo Cluster.
NGC 4322/3 is the satellite galaxy just above M100.
NGC 4328 is the satellite galaxy to the east (left) of M100.
The field contains numerous other galaxies including MCG+03-32-011 at the right center. This irregular galaxy is a bright 19th magnitude.
Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2
360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours
Imaged over five nights in February, 2016 from Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
