On a warm, clear night in late May, 2013, I ventured out to Cave Point county park in Door County, WI to capture the stars with my new Samyang 14mm f/2.8 lens. When I arrived near midnight, the sky was moonless with just a mild humid haze in the air from the outside temperatures approaching the dew point. I found myself alone in the dark which was a little nerve racking, but calming at the same time. When looking over Lake Michigan the clarity of the stars was incredible. The nearest light polluting city was over 80 miles away and could not be detected with the naked eye. However, the galactic core of the Milky Way could be seen in spectacular detail with the naked eye creating the perfect setting for the picture I wanted to take.
