The Whale Galaxy (NGC 4631)

At a distance of 22 million light years, it has a true linear diameter of 94,000 light years and a mass of 50 billion suns. Photo taken from Harrisburg, Pa. on March 17, 2009. 14" LX 200 @ F 3.3 and DSI 3 camera. Companion galaxy NGC 4627 is to the lower right.
