The last great astronomical adventure of E. E. Barnard was an expedition to Green River, Wyoming, to witness the total solar eclipse of June 8, 1918. Vanderbilt University professor Bob O’Dell was given an album picked up years ago by friends at a Nashville flea market that is the photographic record of the Barnard expedition. Barnard’s niece Mary R. Calvert assembled the album, which includes this photo of the group ready to observe. From the library of Bob O’Dell.
