The Moon’s Apennine Caucasus Mountain Range

These extremely rugged ranges are on the northern part of the Moon’s near side (screen middle to right). The range forms the southeastern border of Mare Imbrium. The length of the range is around 600km with some of the peaks rising as high as 5km. This was also the landing site for Apollo 15. The Apennine Range is named after the Apennine Mountains in Italy.
