This sun spot (lower right hand corner of image) is the largest in nearly 25 years. It's size is nearly that of Jupiter, as per a SOHO report. On 10-27-14 a solar flare from it cause a strong HF radio blackout over the Atlantic Ocean basin as well in South America and western Africa that lasted an hour.
Taken with, Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 with a Canon extender EF 2x III, and Orion sun filter=400mm, ISO 125, f/11, 1/1250 sec, on tripod, PhotoShop CS6.
