Today I chose to photograph the solar disk because there is a lot of activity there now with the appearance of sunspot 1882 which is now boiling with M and X class solar flairs. my image was made on October 25, 2013 at 13:56:35 CDT in Jadwin, Missouri. A Cannon 60Da astro camera was used at ISO 125 for the 1/250 second exposure. A 5 inch apochromatic telescope was used at F9 with a "white light" filter.
From right to left we see an array of sunspots, starting with sunspot 1882, followed by sunspots 1881,1879,1877,1875 and 1872. Safety first when observing or photographing the Sun, but indeed our nearest star is a wonder to behold!
