I took this afocal photograph of the 8-day-16-hour-old Moon on 2011/5/11 using a Canon PowerShot SD980 IS camera, an Orion SteadyPix Deluxe Camera Mount, a 2" 55mm University Optics Plössl eyepiece, and the Astronomical Society of Harrisburg's 17" f/15 classical Cassegrain.  The large crater Clavius (225 kilometers) and its chain of sub-craters are near the top of the image.  Tycho (86 kilometers), with its prominent central peak, lies below (i.e., to the north of) Clavius at the center of the image.  Lunar south is to the top.
