This is our families first attempt at astrosketching. We used a 20" F/5 Newtonian Telescope and 13mm Ethos Eyepiece. The region drawn is slightly smaller than the actual telescope view. NGC 2419 was almost exactly overhead. Taken on March 28th at the Caldera Rim Observatory at 8300ft. Seeing was excellent.
The Intergalactic Wanderer, or NGC 2419, is a distant globular cluster that lies approximately 300,000 light years from the Milky Way. At one time, it was thought to be far enough away from the Milky Way to be independent, but is now believed to be in a 3 billion year orbit around our Galaxy.
