In this image of Jupiter taken at around 2:00 UTC, December 14, 2011, the Great Red Spot is accompanied by what appear to be additional red spots. This formation of storms was observed developing over the past few months. At far right, Ganymede can also be seen.

This image was taken using a Celestron C8 telescope and Philips SPC900 webcam at prime focus, with Baader IR/UV Cut and Contrast Booster filters. A video at 15 fps and 1 minute 32 seconds in length was taken and the frames were then stacked in Registax 6. Image by Robert Zaballa.
