Despite a temperature of 7° and a wind chill below 0°, Jupiter (with its four Galilean satellites lined up to its east) beneath the First Quarter Moon proved too compelling to resist this evening.

Shot with Canon EOS 50D, tripod, remote release, f/5.6, 1/2-second exposure, from Waukesha, WI, 5:41 p.m., December 13, 2010.
