4.7-inch window telescope

             This is a photo of my 4.7-inch telescope that is simply a commercial achromatic refractor to which I have attached a 12-inch flat mirror and an extra counterweight support structure. It is wheeled up to the window (shown in the photo) and temporarily sealed with flexible plastic sheets. The flat mirror can be aimed at different locations in the southern sky with the long wooden "levers". The clock drive will follow a celestial object for approximately one hour by moving the front part of the telescope tube through the open window space.
