IC 420

IC 420 (LBN 963, DG 56 and others) is the nebula at the center of the image. It is illuminated by the bright star HD 36540 (vdB 44 and many others). The nebula is located approximately a degree from M42 in Orion.

Luminance – 26x600s – 260 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

380 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 20 minutes

Imaged November 18th, 19th, 20th and 24th and December 14th, 2020 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
