Sharpless 168 + 169

Sharpless 168 (LBN 568 and others) is the bright HII region at the center located approximately 14,350 light-years away in Cassiopeia.

Sharpless 169 is a larger but much fainter HII region located in the bottom left quadrant. Located approximately 6,800 light-years away, it appears to be ionized by BD+59 2786, the brightest star in the area.

LDN 1255 is the dark nebula above at to the left of Sharpless 168.

Ha – 24x1800s – 720 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

840 minutes total exposure – 14 hours

Imaged July 7th, August 26th and September 4th, 5th and 10th, 2020 at Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
