NGC 6765 – a small planetary nebula in Lyra

on Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Before my imaging session, I wasn’t sure I would have a shot at this planetary nebula just from reading several reviews/comments online. I was pleasantly surprised to see my 15-minute exposure showing the nebula as well as two jets leaving the system (at about the 11 and 5 o’clock positions). The magnitude is listed as 12.9 with a size of 38”. Tech Specs: This image is composed of 60 x 15 second images at ISO 3200 with additional dark and bias frames using a Meade LX90 12” telescope, Antares Focal Reducer, and Canon 6D camera. Imaging was done on October 5, 2016.
