Jones Emberson 1 (JnEr1) is a planetary nebula discovered by astronomers Jones and Emberson in 1939. It was later cataloged as PK 164.8+31.1 by Perek and Kohoutek. The nebula was created with an explosion that blew away the outer layers of the deep blue magnitude 16.8 star in the center.
This object has a low surface brightness because the gas that forms the nebula is noted to be very thin. Larger scopes have been able to identify up to 64 galaxies that can be seen through or behind the planetary nebula.
