Ghost and Iris mosaic

van den Berg 141 (Sh2-136) is a reflection nebula (actually a Bok globule) located approximately 1,400 light-years away in Cepheus. This object is near the more popular Iris Nebula (NGC 7023).

The Iris Nebula - NGC 7023 (also Caldwell 4, vdB 139 and others) is a bright reflection nebula located 1,300 light years away in Cepheus. The nebula is lit by the magnitude 7 star in the center. This area contains a lot of dark nebulae including LDN 1168, 1170, 1171, 1172 and 1173.

Imaged on September 3rd, 2013 and October 13th and 14th, 2015 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.

Luminance – 33x600s – 330 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 16x300s – 80 minutes each – binned 2x2

570 minutes total exposure – 9 hours
