The Lagoon Nebula (M8)

This is a picture of M8, also known as the Lagoon Nebula. It is an emission nebula about 4,100 light years away in the constellation Sagittarius. It spans a distance of about 110 light years by 50 light years.


May 29 - September 29, 2013
Location: Animas, NM
Telescope: TEC-140 (F7)
Camera: SBIG ST-8300M
Mount: AP900 GTO
Luminance: 24x20 minutes (binned 1x1)
Red: 8x15 minutes (binned 2x2)
Green: 11x15 minutes (binned 2x2)
Blue: 12x15 minutes (binned 2x2)
