NGC 4261 Field

NGC 4261 (UGC 7360, PGC 39659 and many other designations) is the large elliptical at the center of the image. This one is located approximately 100 million light-years away in Virgo. This field is located between M61 and M49. See the annotated image for locations of numerous other galaxies as well as clusters Abell 1516 and 1523.

Luminance – 12x600s – 120 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

240 minutes total exposure – 4 hours

Imaged on March 14th and 19th, 2023 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.
