Abell 3565

Abell 3565 is a cluster of approximately 64 galaxies in Centaurus. Larger than my field of view, this image is centered on IC 4296 (PGC 48040 and many others), the brightest member. Distance estimates put this one at approximately 179 million light-years away. See the annotated image for locations and designations of others.

Luminance – 12x600s – 120 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 4x300s – 20 minutes each – binned 2x2

180 minutes total exposure – 3 hours

Imaged on April 26th and 27th, 2022 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.
