Arp 73

Arp 73 consists of IC 1222 (UGC 10461 and others) the spiral at the bottom of the image and SDSS J163514.15+461232.6, the ‘Companion on arms’ on the left side. These are located approximately 440 million light-years away in Hercules.

IC 2221 (UGC 10468 and others) is the spiral near the top of the image. Much like Arp 73, this one also has a companion in SDSS J163440.40+462402.4.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8:12:8x300s – 40:60:40 minutes each – binned 2x2

380 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 20 minutes

Imaged May 23rd, 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th, 2019 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
