Edge-on spiral galaxy NGC 891

This is an image of NGC891. It is an edge on spiral galaxy about 30 million light years away in the constellation Andromeda. This galaxy is very similar to our Milky Way galaxy in luminosity and size and many astronomers think this is what our galaxy would look like edge on. Who knows. Maybe 30 million light years from here some alien astronomer is posting a picture of the Milky Way on their internet.

Luminance: 26x20 minutes (binned 1x1)
Red: 11x15 minutes (binned 2x2)
Green: 14x15 minutes (binned 2x2)
Blue: 11x15 minutes (binned 2x2)
