Arp 269

Arp 269 consists of NGC 4490 (UGC 7651, VV 30/30a, the Cocoon Galaxy and others) is a peculiar barred spiral interacting with the smaller irregular dwarf NGC 4485 (UGC 7648, VV 30b and others). Part of the ‘Connected Arms’ class, these are located approximately 25 million light-years away in Canes Venatici.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8:8:10x300s – 40:40:50 minutes each – binned 2x2

370 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 10 minutes

Imaged May 14th and 15th, 2018 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
