M82 (Arp 337)

M82 (NGC 3034, UGC 5322, Arp 337 and many others) is a starburst galaxy located approximately 12 million light-years away in Ursa Major.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours

Imaged over four nights in February, 2016 and January, 2018 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.

This was the first light image with this setup. I was never really happy with the original result so I finally had a chance to revisit it and collect a couple more hours of data.
