NGC 3718, warped spiral galaxy

NGC 3718 is a warped spiral galaxy in Ursa Major, presumably deformed by gravitational interaction with other galaxies in the group. To the lower right of NGC 3718 in this image is the Hickson 56 galaxy group. Located 400M light-years away, the group is 8X more distant than NGC 3718. This image was acquired with a 12.5" Planewave telescope and a Quantum-Scientific QSI-640ws camera working at f/8. LRGB data were collected on 4/17 and 4/18/2015 for a total of 11 hours from a dark-sky site near Anza, CA.
