Hello friends,
Now well placed, and conveniently overhead around midnight, It is a great time to step out in the Summer's night air and enjoy the splendor of our "local" stars. Seen here in the spiral arms of our own Galaxy, The Milky Way!
A lawn chair and a light blanket is all one needs when they are blessed with dark skies. A wonder of nebulosity and starlight is waiting. If this is not a statement as to why we need to keep our skies dark, I am not sure what better argument could be made.
These images were all made between Midnight and 02:30:00 on July 12, 2013 With a Cannon 60Da camera, a Zeiss 18 mm wide angle lens at f3.5 and with exposures of about 3 minutes each ISO setting was of 640.
Have fun with the lightning bugs and the other creatures of the night and see first hand why we need to protect the darkness of our skies!
Best,
