Jupiter imaged by the king of planetary photography

This image of the king of planets was taken by America’s leading astroimager of the planets, the legendary Don Parker. “It was shot between thunderstorms,” says Don, from his house in Coral Gables, Florida, “but the seeing was decent for a short time.” I’ll say.

Don shot the image August 10, 2012, with a Celestron 14, a 2x Powermate at f/21, a DMK 21AU CCD camera, Astrodon filters, and stacked exposures.

Wow!
