Heads up for NEAF, coming in April!

Astronomy magazine is proud to be sponsoring three big events in the astronomy world in the coming months. First, we will co-sponsor the Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) in Suffern, New York, April 28–29, hosted by the Rockland Astronomy Club at Rockland Community College. The world’s largest telescope show will feature more than 140 vendors — manufacturers and dealers — with countless telescopes, binoculars, and accessories on hand.

NEAF
This show reflects the incredible energy of its chief organizer, Alan Traino of the Rockland club. If you’ve never gone to NEAF, this is one show you should really consider getting to. Numerous speakers also will present talks (I’ll be among them), and an imaging conference — the 7th Annual Northeast Astro Imaging Conference — will precede NEAF on April 26 and 27. Another event there will be the annual meeting of the Astronomy Foundation (AF), an outreach group consisting of telescope industry partners, of which I currently serve as president. For more information on the AF, see www.astronomyfoundation.org. For more information on NEAF, see www.rocklandastronomy.com/NEAF/index.html.

  • Tell everybody you meet over there that some functions of 'star dome' still work when your laptop is disconnected from the Internet after the data has been loaded while you were connected. If you keep the laptop on, a lot of data seems to stay lurking inside there. Kind of like,'ghost of stardome'. I think? The telecoms probably hate that.
