There are many ways to enjoy the upcoming total solar eclipse, from Carbondale, IL — the Eclipse Crossroads of America. In addition to events coordinated by NASA, the Science Center of Southern Illinois, and the Adler Planetarium, eclipse watchers in Southern Illinois will have the opportunity to observe the Great American Eclipse with the music of the electronic-rock band Blood Red Boots, who will be performing live during this historic event.

And thanks to internet livestreaming, you won’t even have to be in attendance on August 21st to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime music event. Blood Red Boots will be livestreaming their eclipse day concert via their Facebook page from just outside Carbondale, smack dab in the middle of the lunar shadow as it passes overhead. All you need to do is go to their Facebook page on eclipse day to check out the live feed.

During their highly visual set, which will feature videography by Leland Tellefsen (M&L Productions), the band will also debut their new song, “Nocturne.” The song is titled in homage to musical pieces written to evoke imagery associated with the darkness of night, which is exactly what will fall as totality occurs for 2 minutes and 38 seconds during the concert. “We're beyond thrilled to debut our new song ‘Nocturne’ during the middle of the Great American Eclipse. These are the kind of performances that you remember forever, and we're honored to share this moment with the people of Carbondale,” the band’s vocalist, Keith Patrick, told Astronomy.

The concert starts in Carbondale at 12:30pm Central Time on August 21. Blood Red Boots will play throughout totality, which begins about 1:20pm, and the concert will conclude at 2:00pm, while the partial phases of the eclipse will continue until nearly 3:00.

Blood Red Boots is known for their visually stunning, high-energy live performances.
