Get ready for the year’s biggest star party. Saturday, April 24 is national Astronomy Day, which occurs in April or May each year. This year,
Astronomy magazine has teamed up with Celestron at 25 planetaria and science museums across the country. We’ll be giving away magazine materials, and you can enter to win one of two telescopes at these specific locations, which you can find at our
Astronomy Day web page.
Lots more Astronomy Day activities also will be happening throughout the country. Check the Astronomy.com forums or consult your local astronomy club for events near you. If there’s nothing scheduled in your area, why not have an impromptu neighborhood star party? Show your guests features on the First Quarter Moon. Explore Saturn in Virgo the Maiden. Then try out a globular cluster. The Hercules Cluster (M13) never disappoints. But above all, just have fun enjoying the wonders of the night sky!
Do you have specific astronomy plans for this big day? Tell us about them.
