So, I’m back at Astronomy magazine after a 2-year hiatus. Because some of that time was spent away from the field of astronomy (aside from looking up at the night sky and reading the big news stories), I’ve spent much of the last few days catching up on astronomical news. It doesn’t seem like I’ve been living in a cave the past 2 years: Many things are still unknown regarding the universe, we still haven’t found ET, and we haven’t found the Higgs boson.
Some pretty neat stuff has, however, occurred lately: astronomers have directly imaged the first planet outside our home solar system and the LHC is up-and-running (without destroying Earth).
So what astronomical news will break in the next few years? Who knows, but I’m excited to be back here at Astronomy with the ability to write about it.
