In a previous blog, Astronomy Associate Editor Daniel Pendick wrote about an exciting auction that will benefit Stellafane, the telescope-making conference held annually in Springfield, Vermont.
Participants will bid on Astronomy author Stephen James O'Meara's Tele Vue Genesis refractor and Al Nagler's prototype Nagler 13mm eyepiece — one of only three prototypes manufactured.
Although you may have missed the most recent Stellafane convention, which ended August 12, you can still bid on these two important pieces of amateur astronomy history.
Should you place the winning bid on eBay, you will not only acquire two significant items, but also help preserve Stellafane. All proceeds from this auction will help provide new facilities, including the Flanders Pavilion and new observatories.
If you plan on bidding, make sure to enter soon — this auction ends this Friday, August 17.
If you would like to hear more about this auction and Stellafane, you can listen to my podcast interview with John Gallagher, president of the Springfield Telescope Makers, Inc., the group that runs Stellafane.
