The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) in Canes Venatici

M51 is a face on Spiral Galaxy called the Whirlpool Galaxy. It is about 23 million light years away. Imaged on March 4 thru 7, 2014 in Southern Arizona. Image consists of 24 Luminance, 20 Red, 20 Green and 16 Blue at 5 minutes exposure each. Camera was a QSI 683wsg with 5 position filter wheel. Scope was a Celestron 11" EdgeHd at F7. Mount was an AP900 guided with an SBIG ST-I monochrome camera attached to the QSI guide port. Main camera was cooled to -20 degrees Centigrade.
