Advice needed please. Sorry long post! I landed up in debt with my energy supplier I have been trying to sort this out all through the pandemic. My smart meter wasn’t working properly and all bills were estimated when readings were eventually sent amount of debt stayed the same, surely this should have changed!
Then had a man turn up out of the blue to discuss the debt, he came into my home to take readings and discuss options I asked about a prepayment meter got told no they wouldn’t do that and that a repayment option from my benefit was the only option was told I’d hear something in about 3 months!
Didn’t hear a thing then a woman turned up from same company couldn’t let her in the house as both my children had covid which they had caught from me. She really didn’t believe me so decided to conduct her business on my doorstep for all to hear.
I am registered disabled and was recovering from covid still myself but she insisted that it was dealt with there and then. I had to struggle to get her the electric readings gas she could get herself as it’s outside. Asked again about the prepayment option got told no deduction from benefit only.
Today I have had a letter from dwp stating that as of tomorrow’s date they will be deducting £51.92 weekly from my esa. I only receive £85.15 per week! I am at my wits end how can I survive on what I have left?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
