Arp 140 is part of Arp’s ‘E and E-like Galaxies – Material Emanating from E Galaxies’ class. This one consists of:
NGC 274 (PGC 2980, VV 81/a and others) – the elliptical at the right (west).
NGC 275 (PGC 2984, VV 81b and others) – the spiral at the left (east).
These galaxies are located approximately 69 million light-years away in Cetus.
Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8:8:10x300s – 40:40:50 minutes each – binned 2x2
370 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 10 minutes
Imaged October 21st and November 16th through 20th, 2022 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
