K 2-1 (LBN 809, DG 50, PK 173-05 1 and others) is a planetary nebula located approximately 3,500 light-years away in Auriga. Based on information in Simbad and the various designations for bright, reflection and HII nebulae along with even a galaxy, this one is definitely strange although I’m not sure on why. It is definitely faint – especially in broadband – at 24.1 mag/arc sec. This one would definitely benefit from OIII – like most other planetary nebulae.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours
