IC 1396 (really IC 1396A, Sh2-131, LBN 451 and others) is a large complex of nebulae located approximately 3,261 light-years away in Cepheus.
I originally imaged this in Ha and RGB (as I normally do for Sharpless objects) but I thought it might look good in LRGB.
Ha – 26x1800s – 780 minutes – binned 1x1
Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2
1,140 minutes total exposure – 19 hours – between the two images
Imaged over nine nights in October and November, 2020 at Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
