NGC 2442 (NGC 2443, PGC 21373, ESO 59-8, the Meathook Galaxy and others) is an intermediate spiral galaxy located approximately 50 million light-yeas away in Volans.
NGC 2434 (PGC 21325, ESO 59-5 and others) is the elliptical above NGC 2442.
ESO 59-11 (PGC 21457 and others) is the spiral to the left (east) of NGC 2442.
Luminance – 9x600s – 90 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 12x300s – 60 minutes each – binned 1x1
270 minutes total exposure – 4 hours 30 minutes
Imaged on March 25th and 30th and April 22nd, 2020 at the El Sauce Observatory (Rio Hurtado, Chile) with a FLI PL 16803 on an ASA 500N at f/3.8 1900mm.
