This is a combination of 3 photos I took processed to give an even amount of light exposure allowing us to see what it might look like with an image of the moon in space with correct exposure across the starfield, earthshine, and sunshine.
Images combined were:
1) The starfield (Explore Scientific ED80)
2) The earthshine portion (Celestron Nexstar 8SE with .63 reducer)
3) The first quarter moon sunshine portion (Celestron Nexstar 8SE with .63 reducer)
It was then carefully layered/blended in Gimp to create the final image.
Though it isn't a single exposure (I don't think that's possible) I thought it was pretty cool looking and gives it kind of a 3D look. It makes the moon look like a sphere rather than a giant circle in the sky.
Clear skies!
