NGC 7009 (PK 037-34 1, Caldwell 55, Saturn Nebula and various other designations) is planetary nebula located approximately 4300 light-years away in Aquarius. Using a larger telescope, this would be a good target for lucky imaging – taking thousands of sub-second exposures to reveal the detail. My goal with this image was to capture the very faint dust in the area.
Luminance – 18x600s – 180 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2
300 minutes total exposure – 5 hours
Imaged August 28th, September 2nd and November 24th, 2019 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.
